The Ayurveda Lifestyle

Now that we know yoga is here to stay, we would do well to study it’s sister science, ayurveda. Ayurveda, the science of life, is a full health and wellness tool kit, still effective after 5000 years.

These ancient mystical teachings haven’t just given us stretches, breathing and meditation. In fact, a whole lifestyle awaits.  Sometimes known as “yoga off the mat”, this system moves our wellness practices into all aspects of our lives.  Its about what we do, how we do it, when we do it. And ultimately, its about the attitude just as much as the method.

If we look to nature, we begin to know the cleansing aspects of springtime, the vibrant growth of summer, the rich collecting of the fall and the cool stillness of the winter.  We might also come to know the ideal foods to eat, the most optimal activities to partake in, the most promising ideas to follow, the most supportive companions to acquaint with.

From these observations, a natural wisdom dawns.  The more closely we observe the cycles of nature, the easier it becomes to flow with the winds of change.

Ayurveda is a system based in the laws of nature. When we know ourselves as a living part of nature, not separate from it, we begin to understand the quality and quantity of essential elements required to build and sustain our own individual state of balance. That balance can be maintained through conscious effort and right action. Consciousness of not just what we think and do, but how we do it.

Amrit Dhara Ayurveda offers workshops, retreats and education in self care practices. Through active participation, you will build your own tool kit of resources to support your quest for wellness. Refer to Events and Workshops for announcements on upcoming offerings at Ram Spring Wellness.
