We offer a variety of therapies at Amrit Dhara Ayurveda. The benefits of two, three, and even four of these therapies linked together are innumerable and sometimes life changing.
Amrit Dhara Signature Treatment
A combination of Abhyanga, Swedana, Udtana and Shirodhara
This series is the basis for the deepest form of ayurvedic cleansing. It includes doshic balancing oleation, herbal sweating, herbal dusting and exfoliation and flow of oil over the third eye. Time allotted is three hours.
When used in combination with the Amrit Dhara Cleanse and Detox, the results will astound you. Should you require more specific treatments, these can also be incorporated to deepen your cleanse.
Contraindications include first three days of menses, high blood pressure, hypertension, blood disorders, pregnancy, open skin lesions, bacterial or viral infections.

Abhyanga is a full body oleation designed to deeply penetrate the skin, relax the mind-body, break up impurities and stimulate both arterial and lymphatic circulation. This enhances the ability for nutrients to reach starved cells and for the removal of stagnant waste. The desired result is a heightened state of awareness that will direct the internal healing system of the body.
Contraindications include full stomach, fever, bacterial or viral infections of the skin.

Swedana (svway-duh-nah )
Swedana is a full body oleation (snehana) followed by an individually herbalized steam bath, during which the head is kept cool while the body is heated to remove mental, emotional and physical toxins lodged deeply within the tissues. The cool head provides a sense of calm and openness while the therapeutic steam over the entire body can penetrate and cleanse deeply, without the body becoming overheated and stressed.
Contraindications include first 3 days of menses, high blood pressure, hypertension, blood disorders, pregnancy, open skin lesions, bacterial or viral infections.

Udtana typically follows swedana. A full body dusting with a combination of dosha specific herbs and flours is followed by a dry brushing to remove toxins eliminated during the steam bath. This therapy provides exfoliation and cellular cleansing of the skin as well as improved lymphatic drainage. You will finish feeling energized and rejuvenated.

Shirodhara begins with a warm ginger compress applied to the spinal column to enhance the flow of cerebral spinal fluid, and a eucalyptus steam to the facial area to open the sinus passages, enhanced by a head, neck, shoulder massage. Then a gentle and methodical pouring of warm sesame oil flows over the forehead, supporting the parasympathetic nervous system, synchronizing brain waves and profoundly coordinating and calming the mind, body, and spirit.
Contraindications include full stomach, severe Vata disorder, severe anxiety and combined control issues, low blood pressure, pregnancy, recent neck injury, alcoholism, brain tumour, abrasions or cuts on head, rashes on forehead or scalp, aversion to oil

Marma Therapy (mar-ma)
Marma therapy works on a subtle body level, with the systematic application of aromatherapy oils and light pressure to specific energy points. Tools used may include fingertips, crystals and finally calibrated tuning forks. The client remains fully clothed for this therapy. Working to free up blockages and holding patterns on a deep psychic level, release may be experienced in the emotional field, the mind and in the body.

Garshana treatments consist of a exfoliation with raw silk gloves, applied with vigorous friction. It’s very useful in case of cellulitis, to stimulate the blood and lymphatic circulation. The gentle cleansing action opens the dermis so that the oil and herbal treatments can penetrate deeply into freshly cleansed pores.

Shiro-Abhyanga-Nasya (sheer-oh ah-be-young-uh naa-see-ya)
Shiro-Abhyanga-Nasya is a luxurious combination of a deep head/neck/shoulder massage and facial marma point massage, followed by deep inhalation of therapeutic aromatic steam, and a nasal and sinus nasya with herbalized nose drops. This popular treatment is an invaluable tool for balancing most head, neck and respiratory disorders and for immediate relief from fatigue.
Contraindications include pregnancy, menstruation, immediately before or after eating, intoxication, or acute fever.

External basti consist of the retention of warm, herbalized oil or ghee with the use of a dam on a specific site of the body, particularly thyroid, heart, lungs, kidneys, hips, knees, spinal column. The pool of oil is left on for approximately 20 minutes during which time head, hand and/or foot massage are applied. Basti sends the healing properties of the oil or ghee deep within the structure of the organ or body part to enhance circulation thus facilitating repair, restoration and energetic release.

Netri basti – (eyes)
Warm ghee is administered to relax and rejuvenate the eye itself as well as all connective tissues and adjoining musculature. Netri bhasti has been known to improve eyesight over several applications. Post treatment precautions – no driving within 1 hour and, for the rest of the day, abstain from watching tv, using computers or exposure to direct sun or bright lightsas the eyes are overly sensitive for approximately 12 hours. This treatment is enhanced with a warm oil massage to the head, neck and shoulder area prior to application.
